Symptoms induced in controlled conditions (fumigation with ozone)

cv. Furia

Bifacial interveinal necrosis on broccoli cv Furia leaves exposed to high levels of ozone (A and B). In addition to bifacial necrosis, slight chlorotic stipple can be observed in interveinal areas of the upper leaf surface (B and C).


cv. High Sierra

Interveinal chlorosis on broccoli cv High Sierra leaves exposed to chronic levels of ozone (B and D). In advanced stages, marginal bifacial necrosis can be observed (A). First ozone symptoms develop on tips of the oldest leaves and progress to the margin and to wide interveinal areas (C). Young leaves are healthy without any injury caused by ozone exposure (C). Adaxial (E) and abaxial (F) surface of broccoli cv. High Sierra leaves injured by ozone exposure.
